When Will Seth Rogan “Jump the Shark”?

The current king of comedy in Hollywood, Seth Rogan really can’t do any wrong at the moment. Along with his other actor friends and director/producer Judd Apatow, nearly everything Rogan touches or gets involved in is turning to box office gold and in many cases is also receiving critical acclaim. But sooner or later the act will run thin, he’ll become overexposed and become like Will Ferrell in all of those “Ricky Bobby, Anchorman”, just too much.

It’s not that I have anything against him at all, it’s just what ends up happening. It happened with Ben Stiller, and to an extent Vince Vaughn. Steve Carrell hasn’t had the same issue but his film roles haven’t been as many since he still does the Office on television. It seems that when Hollywood finds someone who is “funny” they decide that he/she is the only funny person in Hollywood and push that person into every possible comedy vehicle that comes down the pipe for the next year or two.

He’s got Pineapple Express coming out in a couple weeks which does look like it will be funny, especially since he’s moving in a different direction from just the standard “dudes trying to get with girls” comedy that he rose to fame with. There’s an element of the “man who knew too much” action film and chase film going on here as well…so hopefully there will be some comedy lampooning some of the stereotypes of those genres rather than just a ton of jokes about pot and sex.

Anyone have any other thoughts on Seth Rogan and how far he has to go before its just “too much”.
